+ Do you accept EAP?

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are benefits facilitated by some employers. These benefits serve as a brief or temporary solution for therapy needs and offer a pre-determined number of sessions at no cost to the client. EAP sessions are limited to one round per calendar year, per client.

Once EAP sessions have been completed, clients may choose to continue therapy out of pocket or by using their personal insurance benefits. In cases where ongoing EAP or low-cost therapy is required, Summit's Edge will facilitate referrals to ensure continuity of care and support.

+ What can I expect in my therapy sessions?

A therapy session typically begins with an introduction to your therapist and an opportunity for you to share what brings you to therapy and any specific goals or concerns you have. Our sessions are collaborative, and we work together to explore and understand your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Sessions are tailored to meet your specific needs and may encompass a range of therapeutic techniques that can include introspection, emotional exploration, problem-solving, and acquiring coping mechanisms. Your therapist will offer continual support, guidance, and feedback throughout the session, aiding you in gaining clarity, formulating strategies, and progressing towards your therapeutic objectives.

Sessions typically last around 50 minutes to an hour, although this can vary depending on your individual needs and the type of therapy being provided.

In the event that an appointment is missed, canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time, or a client arrives more than 20 minutes after the scheduled appointment time, clients will be financially responsible for paying a $100 cancellation/no show fee. Please note, insurance companies do not reimburse for missed or canceled sessions.

To avoid the last minute cancellation fee, clients must notify our office at least 24 hours in advance of their scheduled session. + Divorce & Families Services Policy

Divorce can be highly distressing for families. Summit's Edge offers counseling services to support both children and adults through this challenging experience. While the legal aspects are managed by professionals like attorneys, judges, custody evaluators and guardian ad litems, our role as counselors is to address the emotional complexities.

The role of a child's therapist in a divorced or separated family is to provide a safe and supportive environment for the child to explore and process their thoughts and feelings. The therapist serves as a trusted confidant and ally, offering guidance and assistance as the child navigates the complexities of their family situation.

It's essential to emphasize that the therapist is the child's safe space, where they can freely express themselves without fear of judgment or reprisal. Within this safe space, the child can work through their emotions, develop coping strategies, and enhance their distress tolerance skills. However, it's important to note that the therapist is not a replacement for a parent. While the therapist plays a crucial role in supporting the child's emotional well-being, they do not take the place of a parent. Instead, the therapist complements the parenting role by offering additional support and perspective.

Furthermore, it's imperative to emphasize that the therapist does not pick sides in any conflicts or disputes between parents. The therapist remains impartial and neutral, focusing solely on the best interests of the child. By maintaining this neutrality, the therapist can foster a sense of trust and safety for the child, knowing that they have a supportive ally who is truly there for them. **Failure to work with the therapist in this regard, or triangulation of the clinician, can result in termination of services, which would include 2-4 transition sessions for the child to process the termination of services and ethically be discharged from therapy.

+ Safe Space & Intolerance Policy

We are committed to fostering a safe space for our employees and our clients. As such, bigotry or any form of discrimination directed at our staff or other clients will not be tolerated and will result in immediate clinical termination.

Aggressive, hostile, and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and, if displayed, will result in immediate termination from Summit's Edge Counseling. Examples of this behavior include, but are not limited to: use of profanity, yelling, threats, throwing items or other physically or verbally aggressive gestures towards Summit’s Edge staff or other individuals on Summit’s Edge property. Should a client conduct themselves in any of the above mentioned manners, Summit’s Edge reserves the right to ask you to leave the property. Should the client resist this request, law enforcement will be called.
